Dr. Michael Fiddy
Dr. Michael Fiddy, Director of the Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications, is well known for his work in the fields of inverse optics, inverse problems and optical engineering. He is widely respected for his solutions to difficult and important problems in mathematical optics. He earned bachelor's and doctoral degrees from the University of London and held faculty positions at that institution, the University of Rochester and Catholic University of America before joining the faculty at UMass Lowell in 1987. In 2002 Dr. Fiddy became the founding director of the new Optics Center at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
